Line ups (past and present)

Current Line Up

Hayley – Vocals

Hailing from the sunny north of England, Hayley is an ex dancer who surprisingly can count past the number 8…
Now she’s swapped the dancing shoes, sequins and pink wig for a microphone. Her favourite artists to sing are Def Leppard and Bon Jovi (so look at the set list!). Often found multi-tasking solving complex maths problems with a glass of vino in hand.

Darren – Guitar

Darren has been playing the guitar for many years and enjoys a good power solo! Happy playing tunes from Metallica to Gary Moore – this man knows how to Rock and then some!

Tony Bass Guitar

Tony brings a wealth of experience including working with mungo Jerry and many other talanted musicians in his varied career. God knows what he is doing with us but who knows !?!

Mark – Drums

The original member and drummer of the band since the China Lake name was adopted (no one else wants him, he has nowhere else to go, plus doesn’t want to get his bass drum logo changed, all though it has had an upgrade). Often on the phone speaking to venues about getting gigs booked or updating social media and getting flyers distributed. Always seen putting up the band banner at the start of the gig and racing to pack his drum kit away at the end of it! But with now kind assistance from Hayley, it takes half the time!

Previous Members :

Jim – Vocals

The last member of the original line up to join. Jim brought the good looks and sex appeal sadly missing from the band at that time. He is currently enjoying semi-retirement beekeeping and baking muffins in a country retreat. Rumour has it that he might be back forgetting the words and tripping over the monitors as soon as the court order expires….

Tony – Guitar

Anthony M. Furburger III

Anthony was a pleasant boy, raised in a small mining town in the Himalayas by apack of wolves. He was domesticated upon landing in Leigh Park sometime in the late 70’s. He soon developed such skills as making women leave the country and turning them into lesbians. He learned to play the guitar and eventually managed it without wearing shoes.

Initially he struggled with a bit of stage fright but has beaten that fear and now only has one fear of Kryptonic proportions…..

Tequila.

Spence – Bass

The most level headed and naturally talented member of the band at the time. Spence was the proud recipient of the “MotherTrucker of the Year” award for the 27th successive year.

His thundering bass could cause excessive loss of clothing amongst pretty females and extreme jealousy from everybody else. He’s extremely modest too as you can see!

His birthday is May 28th if you want to buy him a Brown……

Pete – Vocals

Pete originally started out as a drummer but could never get his kit close enough to the front so ended up taking up singing!
He has fronted a number of different local bands over the years and when was not performing with Chinalake had his own one-man show performing songs from
Musicals. He also performed with RoX a party duo. Pete left the band to enjoy surfing and likes to pop back to live music in some shape or form when he feels like it!

Calum – Guitar

Was the youngest member of the band and by far! Loves his dads guitars and likes even more his dad to pay for his! Calum now enjoys the high life in London and is enjoying the time away from the music scene

Marty – Bass

The 2nd bass player of China Lakes incarnation, Marty would previously have been found laying down the low end in the blues rock world of Dust Bowl. Normally found hiding in the corner avoiding the limelight; he has now returned to the blues world he came from with the Alex Wilson Blues Band and now Snake Heart. Be sure to seem him soon!

Ben (Mk1) – Guitar

The 3rd guitar player of China Lakes incarnation and 1st of its post pandemic reincarnation , Ben had to retire from being the sole guitar player due to health issues. He now keeps busy in many function bands and studies musical theatre ! Ben has returned to the fold and is always available to help us when needed!

Ben (Mk2) – Guitar

Ben holds the record for the shortest stay in the band! This guy’s hands are always on the go; and in general so is he!! You’ll either find him speedily spinning rubik’s cubes or playfully plucking along to Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters. Much like the rubik’s cube, Ben is a symbol of simplicity and complexity…sort of.

Dan – Bass

The 3rd bass player, very little is known about this 4 string thumper. There were rumours that he was one of the founding members of the  “Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes” who had their first big break in the Mos Eisley cantina.  But was never confirmed. When he was not laying down thumping low ends he tends to his collection of black t-shirts but has also started collecting used brake blocks from 1980’s 10 speeds.  We have been told he does not bite so it is safe to approach and say hi! Dan has now returned with Eight Foot Yeti and is still on the circuit.
